Lug Tread is our tribute to the classic Kölsch beers of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top-fermented (like an ale) and then cold-aged (like a lager), giving it light ale notes complemented by a lager-like crispness. It is versatile and well suited to any season or occasion, with satisfying, chewy malts to warm in the colder months, and a refreshing, crisp finish to quench a summer’s thirst. The tracks left in the mud from a small tractor’s Lug Tread tell the tale of honest hard work and close family ties.

Slightly unclear pale golden colour, good frothy white head, dissipating slowly. Aroma pale malt, wort, grain, grass. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, grassy, wort notes. Sweetbitter aftertaste, bit husky, medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Refreshing, clean, nice.

On tap. Pours a clear gold-yellow with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that laces nicely. Aroma of grainy pale malt, grass and floral hops. Semi-sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, biscuit, grass, yeast and herbal hops in a crisp, dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Ok.

750ml flip top shared by Jeremy. Pale golden pour with small foamy white head. Grainy, corny aroma, sweet. More of the sweet grains in the taste, not quite enough hops for the kolsch finish.

Can from KBL. Malty, German malt nose, lager-like, rich malt, noble hops. Oily and a bit slick, nice malt and very quaffable.
