I've had one or two coffee IPAs before, but this one is unique. Actually stronger roast taste than most coffee stouts.

Pours creamy amber with a thick beige frothy head that stays for a few minutes and then reduces into a thin layer of only a few bubbles. Nice fresh coffee roast nose, level of coffee is high but just enough to cover fruity and estery IPA characters, as a result feels pretty dry. Taste has good coffee character as well, deeply bitter, not too much, malty body lends itself for some creaminess. Bitterness coming not only from coffee but also decent amount of hops used. Dry coffee roast linger in the finish. Actually much better than I thought it could be, quite nice as a coffee IPA.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Nose is light coffee, corn, acid. Cloudy orange with a fine head. Sour orange flavor, touch of coffee, lemon. It is big time oxidized and sour, gone off somehow. Third out of four that have been off. Had a sip of a friend's from the keg before and it was much better than this. They seem to have a serious problem with their bottling line.

Far Yeast Bicycle Coffee IPA 6.8% Opaque orange in color with a thick off-white head. The aroma is fruity earthy coffee, the beer has a medium body and creamy texture. Coffee and cream flavor but as with last Friday's Coffee & Yuzu Y Market beer this doesn't seem very IPA like due to a lack of noticeable hops. A decent beer though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
