2020 version: Ushitora #448 Heads up! barleywine 11% 43 IBU Rich amber-orange-brown color with a big malty fruity (raisins) aroma and wafer malt notes. Very full bodied, smooth and velvety with sharp tobacco leaf bitter flavor at first then treacle and rich raisins plus candied figs or plums. No heat for 11% which is surprising. Quite good. As someone else said it’ll be banging with a year of age on it.

Tap at bungalow. Pretty amber orange, clear, with a thick, low, tan head. Light caramel, pine, orange in the nose. Estery flavor, lightly roasted, bit of treacle, pine and citrus. Body is a bit thin and it seems still to young. Needs aging.

Beautiful clear mahogany, deep red color. Very sticky nose but the hops aren’t as pugnant as one would hope. Cherries, oranges, and some tobacco leaves are some what apparent. Sticky Chuwy mouth with stewed oranges, cherries, cookie dough, modest bitterness, some citrus notes become faintly apparent later on in the finish. but for 10% lacks the body it needs. Kinda muddled being chewy without the body. Not necessarily bad and not necessarily like they don’t know what they are doing but they were afraid to go too hardcore.
