Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Stas. Hazy golden. Yuzu, stale hops, sweetish, bitter finish, medium-bodied.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Nishijin Bakushu Yuzu-Muge IPA 6% A clear orange-copper color with very little head. Apparently, this is a new brewery in the North Kyoto area near Yamaoka that has a social-welfare component to give jobs and raise money for autism. The nose is huge Yuzu zest, some biscuit and butterscotch diacetyl. Medium to full bodied with a bitter butterscotch and Yuzu flavor. It’s an ok first effort and I applaud the cause but the beer needs more work. I think these guys may have a taproom in which case I’ll try to check it out this year... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Komachi. Yuzu nose, creamy, biscuity malt. Slightly lactic. Tons of yuzu in the flavor, a bit of biscuity sweetness bit of astringency from the fruit. Bitter, spicy finish. Not too bad for a start. Deep orange-amber color.
