Together we’re brewing a riff on the flavors of the classic raspberry ice cream sundae. This beer features raspberry, cocoa and vanilla, in addition to lactose (an unfermentable sugar) that adds a richness and a sweetness, helping to blend and meld the flavors of this ultra-complex beer together. It’s been a true pleasure to work with artists at The Bruery using ingredients and techniques outside of our normal wheelhouse.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Epsom Circle Market. Appearance is hazy, copper brown with trace sparkle, finger-width fizzy off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is bready malts, candied sugar, honey. Taste is initial light raspberry that is overrun by sweet honey and caramel malts, light vanilla and pleasant raspberry ending. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and sweet, raspberry finish. Overall, overriding blast of sweetness without discernible flavor. Not special.

12 oz. bottle. Thank you Chalumeaux. Aroma of raspberry, vanilla bean, and wood. The flavor has the vanilla upfront with an overwhelming artificially sweet raspberry. Milk sugar maybe making this WAY to sweet. Yikes!

Bottle. Amber pour. Aroma of toasted malt, berry. Nothing too strong. Flavor is roasted malt, berry (bitter), green leaves, earth. I don’t get the sweetness I’m supposed to get. Meh.

12 oz bottle from the Beer Camp 2017 pack. The beer is a fairly deep medium amber color with a touch of haze. Medium sized off white head. The aroma has a lot of raspberry sweetness on top of fairly light lactose and some medicinal flavor. The medicinal note hurts things a lot for me, but I think Im a bit harsh on that. Mild toasty bread and caramel base. The taste is fairly sweet, though pretty mild by The Bruerys standards. Milder fruit flavor. More of the base beer comes out and its just ok. Mild bitterness in the finish. Its a sweet fruit beer. I particularly dont like that medicinal note and the lack of any sour depth to give it a juicy flavor. Others might be more ok with that.

Bottle from a Lazy Dog. Slightly hazy golden with a red tinge and a small bubbly off white head that dissipates slowly. Light raspberry on the nose with bits of bready malt and a touch of wet cardboard. Some cocoa and raspberry in the flavor. Decent beer.
