Together we’re brewing a riff on the flavors of the classic raspberry ice cream sundae. This beer features raspberry, cocoa and vanilla, in addition to lactose (an unfermentable sugar) that adds a richness and a sweetness, helping to blend and meld the flavors of this ultra-complex beer together. It’s been a true pleasure to work with artists at The Bruery using ingredients and techniques outside of our normal wheelhouse.

It's odd. It's like it should be a stout and isn't. It's dulled and should be punched up with stronger cocoa.

From a bottle. Pours a coudy amber with an ecru head. Aromas of raspberry cheesecake. Flavors are sweet raspberry parfait.

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a light tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up berries and a faint dash of pear like esters. The taste comes across with a smooth as silk mouthfeel. Wasn't expecting that. The silkiness ushers in sugary malt sweetened berries and then a spot of pear sweet esters before becoming more distinctly raspberry to midway. If you're in the mood for a smooth sweet raspberry beer then this will do.

Crisp, clear copper coloured body with a copper glow and a thickish, three centimetre tall tan head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of rapsberries (surprise), toasted malt, earth, nuts, funk and a big dose of dry chocolate scent throughout - nice and strong, especially when the body isn't dark at all. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong raspberry flavour with a big dash of chocolate and cacao right behind with a nice earthy malt flavour, some cherry and strawberry notes and ends with an earthier flavour near the end, but the chocolate persists even more. Aftertaste shows a good robust complexity that is juxtaposed by the raspberries and full on chocolate notes, without the harsh malty flavours that are usually associated with the style/profile, in a good way. Overall, a nice and respectable beer that shows something different than you'd expect (a porter/stout) in a good way, capitalising on the raspberries, but still showing a ton of chocolate and complexity throughout. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 12-August-2017 for US$25,99/twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 08-January-2018.

Bottle. Amber with a cream head that's soon a coat. Aroma of raspberries and (white?) chocolate. Smells like it might be too sweet but the raspberries promise much. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. It is very sweet and has a deadening feel that's presumably the lactose although maybe the unnecessarily high alcohol plays a part too. "Choc" hasn't much presence. Novelty muck really. But the raspberries are really nice and let's go with that.

Sample during the "Collaboration Beers On Deck 2!" event on 08/13/2017. Clear deep golden-copper color with a medium pinkish-white head that evaporates quickly to a wispy film. Spotty lacing. Aroma of raspberry, vanilla and cocoa. Medium body with flavors of raspberry, chocolate milk and vanilla. The finish is raspberry and vanilla extract. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, artificial, fruity. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Artificial, sweet, lactose, malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- Don't know how exactly to describe this one. Not a fan. Fake fruity taste and a bit of a mess.

Bottle from the box set. Red-orange-brown with a medium, fine head. Almost clear. Nose is raspberry jam, cocoa, vanilla. A bit fake. Corn, grains. Flavor is sweet jammy raspberry with vanilla and cacao nubs. Unrefined, sweet. Strange, slightly husky finish. Doesn't really work.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Aroma is super raspberry forward with some medium light vanilla notes. Light lactose notes and hints of grain. Pours a somewhat hazy copper color with red hues and a medium sized, thick, white head that recedes to a thin film that lingers thicker on the edges. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is odd. Fairly sweet with lots of creamy lactose and vanilla notes. Raspberry notes are a bit lighter. Faint bitterness. A bit more raspberry in the finish with some lingering malt notes that kind of clash with all the lactose and vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, this is a weird beer. The aroma is alright, but the flavor isn't great. The malt profile kind of clashes with the bright creamsicle and raspberry notes.
