Our take on the classic European amber lager. It has bright reddish highlights and a pronounced bready malt aroma reminiscent of its Austrian counterparts. The flavor plays slightly toward caramel and toasted lager malt but remains balanced and drinkable with a clean finish perfect for a summer session.

Pours clear amber with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet malt and bread punctuated by dry hops. Mouthfeel is light, pine and hopped malt are the most notable influences. Palate includes slight spice and a very unfamiliar hop taste. Really good vienna, probably the best one I've had.

Tap at The Torpedo Room. Pours bright copper with a yellowish tinged off-white head. Smells of roasty malt in an amber way. Light obscure hop note. Med body. Flavor is roasty malt with an interesting secondary malt flavor. Sort of whole wheat bread crust (flavor). Light hop, but enough to stave off the maltiness. This is a style I don’t normally enjoy, but this one is enjoyable.

So Sierra Nevada brewed up a batch of Sam Adams, and you know what? It ain't bad. I mean, Vienna Lagers only go so far with me, but Sierra Nevada's version hits all the right notes, with caramel and white bread and hints of toast against faint red apple and pine with a modest floral bitterness on the back end. Seems to be slightly sweeter than Boston's most famous beer, with a clingier bitterness, but otherwise serviceable in every way. Maybe Jim Gaffigan could drink a pint and then shut the fuck up.

Tap at Bud. Copper-gold color, clear and quite pale for the style, with a fine head. Light to medium malty nose with a touch of caramel and very light hops. Toast malt flavor, touch of caramel again, peaches, a bit roasty with decent bitterness and maybe even a touch of booze. Nice drinking.

On Tap clear golden, thin fine lasting bright white head. Soft smooth lightly toasted malt aroma and flavor. Decent noble european hop character. Somewhat pisenerish in that way. Nice refreshing.
