24/10/2024. Bottle from Lopia Kyoto Yodobashi Supermarket. Pours almost clear amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is buttery, malty, caramel, old hops, stewed fruits. Quite sweet, moderate bitterness and an odd tangy tartness. Moderate body, soft carbonation. Didn’t like this.

330 ml bottle from an omiyage shop in Amanohashidate, northern part of Kyoto prefecture. Pours darker orange, lightly cloudy (or dirty) look. Light malts in the nose, some fruity yeast esters. Tastes malty, caramel malts, fruity-grassy medium body, light easy-drinking beer. Light bitterness, just a hint of roast bitterness. Nothing special but OK.

Tap at GJBF Osaka 2016. Nose of butterscotch, light fruit. diacetyl. Hazy orange-gold color. A bit plain, ok caramel malt flavor, low hopping.

Tap at the Kyoto Craft Beer Garden in Kitaoji Vivre. A thick orange pour with a bready fruit aroma. The taste is a similar honeyed graininess to the smoke but much more fruity which I think makes it more balanced. Their beers seem to be very malt driven.
