Bit of a strange one. Initial big burnt aroma, only hint of strawberry, but after a few sips it turns round. Taste becomes dominated by the strawberry. Something a little sickly and artificial in there. Syrupy. I don't hate it but I don't like it anywhere near as much as their previous efforts.

I thought I’d already added my rating. Bottle from the brewery. Sankt Gallen’s 2016 limited flavor is a Strawberry Chocolate Stout 6.5% This beer poured a deep black with one of the densest heads of beige foam I’ve seen. Awesome. The aroma is bang on strawberries & cream merged with chocolate. Medium to full bodied with a chalky mouthfeel and pin-prickly carbonation. The taste is decently balanced, roasty, chocolate, fresh strawberries, chocolate with more strawberry in the finish but not cloyingly sweet like most strawberry beers I’ve had. Well done Sankt Gallen.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Big chocolate, cocoa nose, light strawberry, some soy-like umami, and lactic sugar. Cloudy dark brown to black, medium, bubbly head. Berries come through, but not really strawberry, sweet, creamy. This isok, but not one of their best. Comes off a bit fake tasting. Body is a bit thin.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown with a finger of beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Some roasted malts, dark chocolate and a very faint raspberry and strawberry aroma that seemed to dissipate as it warms. Body feels a little thin, but still hides the abv well. Light tartness on the palate with some dryness on the finish. Lingering, light berries on the finish after some light roastiness. OK I guess and not awful.
