Tap at Craftheads. Good stuff! Funk. Aroma is lightly fruity, Belgian. Yeast. Taste is full on yeasty and funky. Speed rating as they were closing.

Out delivering some BEER ZEN magazines and so am having a beer at Takumiya. Y Market’s Ardennes Red Beautiful reddish orange color with a huge juicy sweet citrus hop bouquet. The taste is bitter citrus peel, pithy the sweet maltiness featuring mild biscuit flavors. Nice stuff. This class looks somewhat small for 700¥ though.

Deep red-brown, cloudy, with a low, thick head. Nose is caramel, raisins, Sorachi Ace, some chocolate, wood. Big Sorachi flavor, caramel, fruits, nicely chocolatey, dry finish. Interesting but a bit weird and that’s the Sorachi Ace. (2015 Fall version was much nice, without the overbearing nature of the Sorachi. Don’t know if the recipe was changed or not).

Tap at Wiz. Lightly hazy copper with a one-finger soapy off-white head that lingers. Dry yeast nose with some light funk (bret?), pine and dried apricot. Medium body with medium to soft carbonation. Dry mouthfeel with some light pepper on the finish. Interesting. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ardennes RED on 08 Nov 2015 at 14:40 - Score: 7
