Tap at Ape. Nose is licorice, citrus, coffee, dark chocolate. Quite bitter. Nice chocolate and hop flavors. Good stuff.

Bottle from Asahiya. Served in a pint glass, this new limited edition from Ise Kadoya pours a cola brown with a fast dissipating tan head. The nose is incredibly hoppy old school c-hops: herbacious floral dank pine that for me brought to mind Cascade. The beer’s med-full body has a smooth texture. The taste is 70%+ cacao, fairly roasty and bitter but I am not sure if it is from the dark malts or the hops. I suspect it is the hops and the finish is semi-sweet which helps balance things out. Hoppy Porter or Black IPA? Call it what you will but I like it.
