How do you end a year in which you’ve made 100 different beers? a hoppy behemoth that used over 7 pounds of hops per barrel of beer, got two separate dry hop additions, and clocks in at over 11% alcohol. you need to have a deeply masochistic streak to desire this much hoppiness in your beer. it is a bruising, tongue-scraping, agressive beer with more punch than anything we’ve ever made.

Small pour at NE location. Color of burnished copper, small ring of fine white head. Aroma is subtle, malty with light piney notes. Taste follows with an equal blend of malt and hops , malt slightly coming out on top. Bone dry. Pretty smooth considering the ABV. Deceptive and delicious

My first thought was 'Better than Pliny.' Citrus and grass aroma, very pronounced. Hoppy body, strong and mellow with no alcohol burn. Long lasting hop finish. Sip this

Hazy light amber. Thin head. Aroma is dank and grapefruity with a touch of alcohol. Lots of malt, similar hop character as the nose. Soft body. Comes across mellow for a 3IPA. Really dangerous, this one.

On tap at Alibi Room during Oregon Breweries Tap Takeover. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is resiny with tropical fruits and piney hops. Same taste. Moderate bitterness and sweetness. Very good.

bomber. Big malt nose, biscuits, peaches, oranges, some cat piss, grapefruit. Cloudy golden orange color with a thick fine head. Thick and syrupy flavor, peaches, oranges, dank, some piss. bit too thick and syrupy for me, though tasty.

[2/26/15] Draught at Breakside Brewery in Portland. Cloudy amber. Nice hops aroma with some pine, some fruitiness and a “green” note. Flavor of piney and fruity hops, slightly “green”, with mild sweetish maltiness. Medium-bodied.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color with creamy head, and a bright light. Nice aroma of malt, caramel, hop, manure, fruits, mango. Full bodied, round mouthfeel; good malt and caramel flavor, with a touch of toffee, sweet but not cloying; very strong hopping, but it well blends into this beer, with loads of piney resins and a strong fruity component. Long final.
Fresh. Among Double IPAs it’s excellent.

Tap at Chuck’s. Aroma is super hoppy without putting off high alchy flavors. Good hops, some ice tea, some greens, some bitterness coming out. Good stuff for a high octane hoppy beer. Flavor is very similar. Well done for a big hoppy beer but its not my thang. 2 oz shared by Chris was plenty.

On tap at the brewery
Clear copper/amber with a small white head, light lacing. Aroma of pine, sweet malts and caramel. Flavors of pine resin, caramel with a sticky sweet finish
Nice, similar to a hoppy BW.

Glass at the brewery. Pours a bright copper color with a small white head. The aroma is intense, fruity, big sweet sugary malts, light heat. The flavor is more brown sugar, big sweet malts, intense fruity hops, medium bitterness, resin, hot, green at times, big balanced malty base. Quite like a barley wine. Very good. This will get solid ratings if people try it.
