Y Market Yofukashi Queen Barley wine 12% Lovely orange gold that is topped by light beige foam with a candied fruit and almost sherry like caramel aroma. Very much in the English style. Medium bodied with a thick syrupy mouthfeel, sweet malts and stone fruit flavor but just enough of a herbal bite to balance things out in the finish. An excellent post-onsen beer while admiring the view.

Tap at CBM Koenji. Amber coloured, lovely aroma, fruity, bit tropical, really nice. Maybe even a bit of creme caramel. Taste is great too. Toffee, fruity, booze is totally hidden. Apple, and a bit of booze later on. Great stuff.

Orangish amber color. Big sweet malty nose, dried apricots, breads, but relatively uncomplicated. Not super smooth.

On tap at CBM Koenji. Hazy golden color with a thin head that leaves nice lacing. Server in a snifter. Huge tropical fruit bouquet with pineapple and Hawaiian punch aromas standing out. A little bit of dried apricot and banana on the nose as well. Really stands out from other barley wines I’ve tried which tend to highlight dark fruit. This is bright and citric. Thin to medium body with a pineapple creamsicle texture. Is this really 12%???!?! Drinkability is amazing althoguh slight warming finish, but nothing over the top at all. Slight bitter finish but palate is quite sweet. Complete fire from Y Market. --- Beer merged from original tick of YOFUKASHI Queen on 07 May 2015 at 19:28 - Score: 8

Tap at the brewery. Pours nice golden-amber, thin layer of foam. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Summer berries. Taste is surprisingly dry, hop bitterness is there, feels much lighter than it should, dangerously drinkable for 12% beer. Aftertaste is dry, drying your mouth. Another good one today. Would really like to try this when it has aged a bit.

Tap at the brewpub. Glowing orange-amber, clear, lace. Estery nose, peaches, melon, great dried fruit. Very estery and fruity flavor, slight alcohol. Bitter finish. Highly drinkable for 12%, dangerously so. Would like to try it again in a year.
