Keyaki. Crazy name sold it to me. Sweetness, caramel, very smooth, interesting. Little bit of booze. Very low carb. Nice. Good on them for doing something interesting. I like Umenishiki. Extra points for the name. --- Beer merged from original tick of Umenishiki Wood Finish and Assemblage on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Tap at BBS 2015. Amber-orange, flat. Nose of cedar, honey, stoen fruits. Wood flavor of cedar, peaches, orange, honey. Almost flat, silky, soapy. Interesting, and the right about of cedar (just a touch), but missing something. A bit more acidic would be great.

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. Aged in Japanese Cedar Barrels, a truly original beer that pours a clear golden copper pour with a gummy beige head. The nose caramel, fruity, wood & very intriguing aroma. Medium to light bodied. The taste was very subtle wood character over a possibly Pale Ale giving a fair bitterness and some toffee. A sharp finish. This is about the malts and the wood. Probably one of their most interesting beers.
