350 can I got from Daiei supermarket. Ginga Kogen beers are quite well distributed in Japan although I am not sure if I actually like them. This one starts promising - pours nice dark amber, slightly hazy and with a thin top. Looking good. Aroma has some cucumber, lightly burnt malts and caramel. I know it sounds weird but yes, there is some raw vegetable character too. Taste is at first hard to understand because the carbonation is a bit overwhelming at first. Then burnt sugar, bread and some hop bite at the end. Thin body. These guys failed to surprise me again but well, that’s what I expected.

My can poured a translucent honey brown with a malty aroma that had a certain fruit vinegar tang to it. You know that kind of drinking vinegar they sell in Japan. Thin bodied with a pretty rough carbonation. The taste is an acrid burnt malt bitterness with a bit of fruity tang, ash and nuttiness. This thing is all over the place...

Can from Yamaya. Glowing dark reddish brown, cloudy, with a tall, fine off-white head. Pretty and deep. Malt nose, caramel, a touch of raisin, light, earthy hops. Surprisingly tart flavor, caramel, a bit of roast, some citrus and earth. Bitter, dry finish. The rich malt in the nose is lost in the flavor. Far too fruity and tart for the style. Really thin and disappointing. At least it isn’t sweet, but it isn’t much of anything.
