This golden sparkling blond ale was brewed to pay homage to a 1000-year tradition rooted in Cologne, Germany. Clear, crisp and easy to drink, the Kolsch of today is lighter than the "House" beer that was served in Cologne 200 years ago - the city that made Kolsch famous. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

Bottle from Market Basket Brilliantly clear deep golden color with a small but long lasting bubbly white head. Graham crackery pilsner maltiness with some pomme and pitted fruits. Light floral hops. Crisp light metallic finish. Not horrible but far from a great example of the style. .

Bottle part of summer mixer hanging out at lake. Golden pour white foamy head. Nose is bready and grassy. Tastes of grass, bread, light herbal, musty basement, touch of green apple. Fine enough palate.

12oz bottle from Wegman’s, West Seneca, NY. Pale amber with a billowing white head; yeasty aroma; soft yeasty taste with some sweet grains, but rather lacking in flavour, or finish.

Bottled. From old notes. Pale gold color. Very light malts, hops almost imperceptible. Light bitterness. Not much going on here.

Another case of a company calling some random concoction a kolsch. Pours gold. OK head. Light sour weird finish. Bottle.

Just recently found the notes on this.
I poured this into a stange every time I had it.
The appearance was a nice light golden yet somewhat transparent color. There was a quickly escaping white foamy head that was about less than a finger’s worth. The lacing slid into the body fairly quickly.
The smell had some light German malts leaving a bit of lemon to come out as it warmed.
The taste was mainly sweet through the malts and I didn’t get any lemon in the flavoring.
The palate, that sat at/about a light to medium in body and displayed a pretty good sessionability about it.
Overall, I say this was a decent kolsch styled ale. I might not seek this one out, but I say it is do-able.

12oz bottle. Filtered pale orange-yellow body. Thin, patchy, fading head. Isn’t so far off a real Kolsch, but just doesn’t have the finesse...it seems like Saranac has gone down a notch in terms of brewing expertise, something they couldn’t afford with their budget beers. It has some of the delicate yeast notes, but the body is lacking a quality feel, and detracts. Real lackluster stuff.

Left over from a party: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is grain and a hint of fruit. Taste is bready, a bit grainy, very unhoppy, with a green apple/ambiguous fruity finish. Drinkable, not bad.
