Tap at Watering Hole. Interesting. Feels like Schwarz beer and stout mix. Very smooth, bitter chocolate, Schwartz beer soy sauce thing, but fruity and boozy too. Bit too much real ale thing going on for me, but tasty beer. Just not sure about the texture. Roast and smoke.

Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Deep brown color with a minimal head. Roasted coffee and cacao nibs dominate the nose with a hint of toast. Body is a little too thin, mouthfeel is oily. Coffee and cacao flavors are there with a hint of vanilla that comes out as it warms up. Really smooth stout and easy to drink. Great rich and smooth finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Noir Heads on 25 May 2015 at 08:54 - Score: 7

Dark brown color. Lots of coffee and roasted malts. Tons of coffee and roasted malts in the mouth. Very nicely balanced. The mouth is a bit thin but otherwise fantastic.

Tap at the brewery. Pours dark chocolate brown, small or almost no head. Aroma is quite roasty, bit of sweetness, burnt rye bread. Taste is full of charcoal, bitter chocolate and cocoa nibs. Dry stuff, some sweetness still there. Really nice, liking it a lot. Nice lingering hoppy dryness at the end.

On tap at Yellow Ape Craft. 6.8% a dark brown with a thin filmy beige head that disappeared kind of fast. A chocolate brownie aroma, fairly light bodied. The taste is rich chocolate, fudge/brownie chewy dark malts with a bit of roastiness in the finish. The low ratings had me not expecting much so I gotta say this is decent - not complex and the body is on the thin side but overall it is a fairly satisfying dark beer.

Tap at brewpub. Dark brown, creamy beige head. Aroma has chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied, creamy palate. Chocolaty with light toasted notes. Some caramalt. Quite lowkey black ipa but with reasonably good malt profile. Perharps their Simcoe is not too fresh

Tap at 1020. Nose of charcoal, soy, licorice and grapes. Dry flavor, a bit of fruit, some coffee and light soy sauce. Very light body. Drinkable but not much happening for the strength. Could be sweeter, and the body is like a 4% stout. Somewhat disappointing.
