12oz @ Ryan's (thx for the beer, man!) shared with Alex.
Malty with some hoppy bitterness. Taste is along the same lines. Finishes with hoppy bitterness. An American style BW. It's ok, but not more than that.

I'm too tired to check it, but I'm pretty sure I just got the whole world in my house

330mL bottle, pours a hazy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma reveals notes of toffee, stone fruits, and brown sugar in reasonable cohesion. Flavour is sweet, estery and fruity -- a bit too sweet and estery for me. There's lots of bubblegum-y notes, sweet stone fruits, and toffee on the finish. Not bad, but this doesn't strike the notes or balance for me.

Keg at pub Edo. Cloudy orange colour with little head. Aroma booze and boozy fruits. Tripel like sweetness. Taste, lots of booze, almost spirit like. Bit of indistinct fruit, bit orangey by not quite. Maybe something tropical. Bitterness at end. Quite full on. Nice, but probably should have had the imperial stout instead. Rerate: 4/11/13 body is lacking I think. It's alright, raisins, fruity, bread, but definitely not quite there.

12oz bottle pours out amber orange color topped with a small head. Nose is big sweet caramel malts honey notes and some citrus hops. Tatse is more of the nice rich malts and the mellow hops.

On tap at Bungalow it pours a dense milky orange brown with a beige head and an intensely fruity citrus and sweet bread pudding aroma. Medium to full bodied and velvety smooth. This beer melds bold citrus, bitter pine and rich bread and grains with graham, honey and fruit. I’m glad I got to try the original version that gave birth to the barrel aged one. A solid beer that matches this beautiful cool Fall day perfectly. It lost points for looks.

2014 version on tap at Swan Lake Pub Tete. Hazy brown color. Initially its a Sweet malty nose with apricots and citrusy notes, but some strong hops underneath that. . Candied fruit and grapefruit notes dominate the mouth. Fairly boozy, even two years into. I mean very boozy. Not the most complex brew in the world. Not bad but nothing special.

Tap at Pub Edo. Light grapefruit and mild tropical nose with heavy malt. Almost candy sugar sweetness with a heavy and full body. Quite boozy and over the top. Really unbalanced with some light fruit as it warms. Meh. --- Beer merged from original tick of Swan Lake Samurai Barley Ale on 16 Feb 2016 at 14:43
