Aon - Pecan Mud Cake

Most likely a bit off. Unlike my student Noa, the sweetest thing you’d ever wanna meet. Then again, she loved me, so she was probably a bit off, too.

330 ml bottle, as Omnipollo Noa Pecan Mud (cake is not mentioned on the bottle), brewed by Omnipollo at Brouwerij de Molen. Available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, which previously stocked the Bourbon BA version. ABV is 11,0%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. Aroma of roast malts, caramel, molasses, syrup, chocolate, vanilla, pecan nuts. Sweet and smooth flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, also notes of coffee and moderate bittering hops.

Svart vätska. Vanilj, choklad och kaffe i en aromkonsert orkestrerad av bryggaren. Pecannöten hämtas från sent 80-tal i en dessert signerad hockeykväll. När du sedan kommer till smaken inser du vilken fejk denna dryck är. Kemisk, konstlad och med en tråkig grundöl. Men som man säger inget är dolt, bryggeriet är transparent.

Rating #8003, Beer #11 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Super pitch black coloured body with an oily glow and a fully opaque, deep dark brown tint with a good two to three centimetre tall rich oily brown head that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of hazlenuts, chocolate, deep peated malts, some coffee, lactose, bunches of earth and somehow, even more jam-packed hazlenuts in the form of a liquid nutella, complete with the sweetness and light biscuity notes. Full-bodied; Super rich hazlenut, peanut, almond, fig, raisin, lactose and especially peaty flavours dominate with a prune twang as well as the rich lactose that stays true for a long time, but the fruits obviously show the deeper sides and a strength without pungency. Aftertaste shows the robust hazlenut flavours first and foremost with a lot of nutty flavours, a good deal of deep flavours from the peat and malt, but the real punch here is the fruits that are noticeable, but were very strong while the robust coffee and chocolate notes roam quite well. Overall, a very nice hazlenut-based Imperial Stout with tons of sweetness, around immediately after opening, but some conflicted guidance on the sugars and exactly what to cope with in terms of the flavour. This was the eleventh beer of my 8000th celebration, the third on the 'other side' of 8000, and an amazingly balanced and flavourful beer throughout! I sampled this 33 cL can, purchased from Carmine Street Beers in New York, New York on 29-November-2018 for US$5,99 sampled at my house in Washington on 26-April-2020, as Beer #11 of the 8000th Beer Celebration!

Pastry stiur mer enn etikettene imperial stout, eller imperial pastry eller noe slikt. Sterk dominans av vanilje. Men jeg kan vel ikke klage over typeriktighet når jeg åpner en flaske fra Omnipollo? Men vel, det treffer liksom ikke meg.

Keg at BrewDog Leicester. Purplish black, impenetrably opaque with a small ring of tan head. From the nose I'm getting pecan pie, hazelnut, marshmallow, molasses. Taste ia sweet at first but there is an earthy hoppy bitterness to usher in the finiah. Bitter cooking chocolate, pecans, walnuts and a touch of yeast extract in the finish. Low carbonation, and the body is surprisingly thin. It's certainly moreish if a little bit imbalanced. Glad I got to try it.
