Hornbeer Imperial IPA er en lidt kraftigere sag, end almindelige IPA. Der er brugt lidt mere af det hele. Oprindelig var IPA'erne beregnet for de engelske søfolk, der skulle rejse den lange vej til Indien. Det er 200 år siden. For at øllet skulle holde sig friskt, blev det brygget med høj alkoholprocent og med høj bitterhed fra humlen. Vi er så gået en tand videre. Har brugt lidt mere malt, lidt mere humle. Prøv Hornbeer Imperial IPA til ristet rugbrød med gorgonzola eller
andre markante, bløde oste. IPA'ens bitterhed sammen med ostens skarpe smag passer fantastisk sammen.

Served from a bottle at CBF 09. Fragile bubbles on the surface of a golden-copper body. Solid amount of hops in aroma and taste. Pine needles and citrus shells. Spices and semi-sweet, caramel malts. And a lingering dry bitter aftertaste with tingling alcohol on the tongue. Fits the style and almost perfect for my palate (16.05.2009).

Bottled @ EBF 2008. Hazy reddish brown body with a dense off-white head. Aroma is citrus fruity with an indication of sharp bitterness. Flavor is sweet malty, caramel, fruity and rather bitter. I find it balanced.

cloudy dark amber, lage thick offwhite head. aroma is clearly hoppy, but stil refreshing and flowerlike and piny, not overdone as some other iipa’s. flavor : hoppy, slightly sweet, bitter, bitterness strongest in the middle, the end is slightly sweeter. This is better tasting than most IPA’s i’ve had. reminds me a little of Ølfabrikken rug ipa, although far from as sweet as that one.

Bottle. Orange colour. Not hazy, but it looks ’thick’. Nice head. Well balanced aroma. Hoppy, not in a sticky way, it´s rather mild. I also smell some malt. The flavor is very bitter at first. It kills your mouth like some kind of medicine. The after taste on the other hand is sweet with with notes of vanilla, caramel and sour pears.

Deep orange colour with medium head who stays.Aroma is hoppy and fruity with creamy and bitter mouth feels and full body really tasty kind of beer.

(Bottled 50cl, BB 07/2011). Cloudy orange-amber color, good creamy beige head. Pinewoody and peach-fruity hoppy nose. Dry resiny-pinewood flavor with fruity hops. Some caramel lingering there too. Medium-bodied. Long bitter aftertaste. Quite well-balanced and easily drinkable IIPA.

Bottled. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is wood, sourness and some mild caramel malts with strong fruity (peachy and pineapply) notes along with wood. Flavour is caramel malts, US hops and some slight notes of wood. Wellbalanced.

Bottle at EBF: Pours cloudy orange with a off white head. Lots of peachy hops, caramel but also some butter/diacetyl. A bit cloying. Sticky , bitter & medium filling palate.

Big light beige lasting head leaves dense lace. Clear deep amber body. Fruity citric hop aroma with chalky notes. Dry-sweet tropical citric fruit taste with alcohol notes. Somewhat chalky, and a bit dense in mouthfeel. Short aftertaste. Not great. (0.1l taster from bottle at EBF ’08, thanks to Beer_2000.)

Bottled at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Hazy pale amber. Intense grapefruit aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Hops dominate, but the somewhat simplistic malt reveals some hard edges. Long very bitter finish.
