Lake Placid IPA (US) - IPA - 6.8%
35 cl bottle, best before 12.2014, 2.70€. Pour light browhish with small fine creamy head, plenty of lacing. Nose is hoppy and earthy. Aroma caramel malts, hints of roasted malts, candy orange peel, ginger, rum, brandy. Nice liquor finish with a leftover of burnt wood and earth. I think this bottle is too old... Body is quite thin, but the taste is strong, intensely bitter yet not excessive, good amount of bittering hops. Low carbonation but tingly on tongue, long finish and very dry. It’s more prone on the Pils\APA side than the typical IPA but it’s quite good.

Bottle. Orange malt and orange peel aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet orange malt and moderately bitter metallic orange peel flavor. Okay.

Bottle: Pours red-berry amber with a short, light tan head. Sweet, fruity, malty aroma. Taste is herbal hop bitter, caramel. Very mild....not a big hop presence.... Just a non-descript, general bitter. Not bad, though.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Beautiful amber color, with small and not persistent head. Aroma of caramel, with light biscuits and very light phenol. Caramel flavor, without the crystal trap; good body strength, but the mouthfeel is rather dry; strong bitterness, with some resins.
Not as hop-forward and fresh as I would like, but enjoyable though; caramelly essentially.

300 yen from Nagano Trading, 7%. A nice amber color with a beige head. A nice hop bouquet of citrus & grapefruit. A hint of a caramel base overlain with a clean bitterness. Somewhat astringent but nice. An interesting balance between malt & hop.

Bottle. Nose of coffee, tobacco, caramel, earth, a bit of cabbage. Rich amber with a low head. Bitter, minerally, and tart, with some vegetables. Astringent, weird, and not so nice. Something strange.
