Unpasteurized limited edition beer, 2007 bottle. Between 25% and 50% malt. Medium brown color, orange tint, low head that immediately vanished, leaving no lace at all. Strong fruity, caramel aroma. Very fragrant. Apples, cider. Toffee. Very sweet, slightly medicinal, not wholly nice. Almost sickly sweet. Amazingly sweet caramel flavor. I don’t see why they call it “bitter.” A sour, citrus background is there for balance, though, rather tangy and interesting. There is a strong milk flavor as well (milk additives). Can’t tell much about the malt, as the caramel hides it. Seems like it might be slightly roasted, maybe their amber beer is the base. Can’t tell what the hops are like. If it was bitter and dry with less sweetness, it might be nice, but basically it is sweet and sour, strong at both extremes, and is basically disgusting. There are apples in the flavor as well. The finish is sticky-sweet caramel and sour fruits. There is a strange, medicinal aftertaste that lingers gently behind as well. It is interesting, to be sure, but not particularly well made. Amazingly overpriced. They shouldn’t have bothered with this crap. Like a bad cream soda.
