Pour is a clear red-brown with a large tan head. Aroma is some caramel malt and woodsy hop, maybe a little toffee in there as well. Flavor is some dark bread malt with some red berry and bitterness. I am getting a strong strawberry on the aftertaste. This was nice hoppy amber ale and a little something different for the style.

Pours nice clear and sparkling amber, some beige head, quite fluffy, slowly coming down. Clean malty-fruity nose, light hoppy bitterness. Tastes medium bitter, malty base but hops still quite bright and covering the air above the glass. Herbal biter linger in the finish. American Amber, good.

Draft at the source. Clear pale amber, off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, caramel. Taste follows nose. Good.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark amber colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Piney and citrusy, hoppy aroma, notes of orange, tangerine, orange zest, marmalade, pine, spruce, mellow malty basis with a touch of peanut and biscuit. Taste is bone dry, resinous, piney and slightly citrusy hoppy, notes of orange zest, tangerine, marmalade, smooth caramel malty basis. Very clean and intense. Indeed a hop-armed soft toy. Pretty much underrated - should change ranking with Bear Republic’s Red Rocket Ale to establish a correct order.

Californian amber ale from a 50 cl bottle, bought at Beergium. I wonder if the name refers to Scrat, the sabre-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age animated movies - in any case such an animal never existed... Thick and frothy, dense, egg-white head leaving tight patches of lacing and retaining well, sitting atop a clear, deep and warm, coppery orange-amber coloured beer, a beautiful autumn colour so to speak, with vivid fizz rising up from the bottom of the glass, turning hazy and more brownish amber with sediment. Pleasant and elegant bouquet of pink grapefruit flesh, the white underside of orange peel, pine resin, biscuit, pink pepper, sweet red curry, dried apricot, soap, freshly toasted bread, fainter hints of pistachio nuts, mango, minerals, marihuana, old cake, wormwood. Softly fruity onset, clean with hints of dried mango, peach and green banana, sweetish but restrainedly so, with a vague ’basic’ sourish touch and a hint of green olive-like umami, softly carbonated, with a smooth, slick, oily mouthfeel. Pleasantly sweet biscuity malts with a touch of toasted nuts in the middle, carrying the fruity aspects to a notably hoppy - ’American’ - finish of resinous, spicy, deeply grapefruity hops, leaving behind a long bitterness drying the back of the mouth and the throat and yielding grapefruity and piney aromas retronasally; alcohol remains all but completely hidden, though a vague gin-like warmth is detectable in the tail. Typically grapefruit-hoppy West Coast amber ale, hoppy and deeply amber enough to qualify as a red IPA as far as I’m concerned; straightforward but well-made, elegant, technically flawless and highly drinkable. Very enjoyable beer.

A reddish copper ale with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt resinous floral hops, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and smooth. On tap at brewery.

Bottle at De Garde. Pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. A big fruity resinous nose. The flavor is dank hops, resin, pine, a big malty base with coffee and toast. Solid.

Draft - Spicy hops and some malts. Clearish copper with a light beige head. Woody and odd hops with a twig finish.
