On tap. Pours a clear amber with a slight red hue and an off white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has bread and grains with a bit of pine and grass coming through. Flavor has pine and bread with some earthy grains and leaves supporting.

Smog City Sabre-Toothed Squirrel Hoppy Amber Ale 7% Matte brown with a thick light beige head of foam and a hugely fragrant piney old school west coast hop bouquet. Medium to full bodied with bitter pine and caramel biscuit malt notes. Decent.

Pretty much exactly as the label describes. Good balance throughout as well as good drinking. Slightly medicinal in the finish.

From a 355ml bottle on 16/2/2020 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a clear blight amber with a small head. The nose is quite fruit and malty. The flavour is of dark fruit and berries, nuts and with light vinous notes. It's reasonably hoppy with a resinous finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A very solid hoppy amber.

Deep dark coppered and bronze coloured body with a nice, two to three centimetre tall thick pure white head that stays afloat for a long while. Aroma of nuts, earth, toffee and a good, healthy dose of bright citrusey and piney hops. Medium-bodied; Deep hoppy bite throughout with a lot of earthy and nutty flavours with a softer sweetness from caramelised sugars, all ending with a dash of hay and dry flavours. Aftertaste shows the grain and nuts throughout with a healthy dose of bitterness from the higher alpha acid hops and a good dose of sweetness from some resin and fruits as well. Overall, a nice and flavourful amber with a bright hoppiness, along with a good deal of sugars, bitterness and even some nutty and earthy notes throughout. Great to sample, especially fresh and local here in Los Angeles. I sampled this stubby, twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Whole Foods in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles), California on 26-December-2019 for US$2,75 sampled in my hotel room here in Downtown Los Angeles, California, a day later on 27-December-2019.

Bottle on 19th Dec 2019, in The Cellar, San Clemente. Amber pour, off-white head. Malty molasses in the aroma and taste alongside some resinous hop esters and flavours, semi-sweet rather than hop bitter, although the hops can be found throughout the brew.
