550 yen, on cask as part of the Real Ale Fest at Beer Belly Edobori. 5% and hoppier than their English Bitter(I asked if it was the same) this poured in a wall of muddy beige bubbles climbing up the glass making me think of a nitro beer which then settled into a lovely clear deep reddish brown. The color is so deep from a distance it looks black. Nice light citrusy hop bouquet with a bready malt backbone. The mouthfeel is soft, silky smooth while the beer’s medium bodied. The taste is citrus, lemon, lime then some malty caramel/chocolate + breadiness before finish with a mild hop bitterness. Solidly made, satisfying, tasty even but on the average side. The best thing about it was that visual pow I got from the cask pour.

Draught at Craft Beer Live 2012. Dark brown with a medium tan head. Earthy nose with cocoa and a bit of raisin. Chocolate-cocoa flavor, nice earthy hops, fruity, dried fruits. A bit phenolic. Nice earthy hoppiness and great balance and drinkability.
