Tap at Himalaya Table. Golden brown colour, not much head. Aroma is malty, like a UK golden ale from cask. Light Citrus hoppiness and bit of sweetness too. And some strawberry... Taste is good, real ale feel again, light citrus, sweet maltiness. Cherry drops. Slightly perfumey even. Nice though. Rerate at brewery March 16. Good stuff, big hop character, some doughiness, tropical fruit, mango, sticky toffee pudding. Nice.

On tap pours out crisp amber topped with a sand head. Nose is grassy perfume hops and some sweet caramel malts. Taste is more of the nice sweet caramel malts and a grassy perfume floral hop.

Pint at Len. Pours a clear Amber color with a large white head. A soft malty caramel nose. The flavor is sweet caramel, perfume, toast. Smooth.

Tap at Waseda Oktoberfest. Pours orange, somewhat hazy, a bit of white foam. Aroma is sweetishly sour. Surprisingly sour also in taste. Watery and messy, bitter with herbal hops but far from balanced and sourness sort of dominates. Drinkable but still a disappointment.

Tap at Vector Factory. Simple grassy and malt-forward nose. Some light stone fruit as it warms I guess. Dry and scratchy bitterness on the palate. Lots of malt, but very British and balanced in a British sort of way. Astringent finish. Not my kind of IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bunyip Australian IPA on 12 May 2016 at 21:42 - Score: 5

Tap at Beer Cafe Bakujun. 6.5 %. Deep red color, small steady off-white head, lace. Piney, earthy hop aroma. Medium-bodied. Clean flavor. Notes of caramel. Piney, woody, earthy hoppyness leaning towards uk. Sessionable despite of abv.

On tap at Bungalow, it didn’t seem to be called Bunyip just an Australia IPA so I am not sure if it is the same brew or if it has changed. The color was a nice reddish brown with a good head of foam & decent lacing. The mouth feel was nice but the hop aroma was quite mild and my overall impression was it was kind of middle of the road. It didn’t make such an impression on me. Then again I had been at an IPA tasting before drinking it so it may have suffered in comparison.

Re-rate - pretty mediocre stuff. Big caramel finish. Not balanced. Not that great. Drank on tap at brewery pub so I assume in good condition. deep amber color. Interesting marachino cherries, unfermented wort in the nose. Medium body, very malty, but very balanced and centered around the backbone. Moderate amount of bitterness. I would say strong pale ale rather than India pale ale.

Draught at the Kyoto craft Beer Festival, 2012. Pretty orange-brown color with lace. Big caramel nose enveloped in grassy hops. Great bitterness. Very complex as sweet, rich caramel works with (battles against) grassy, earthy hops. A trip, though a bit weird.
