Tap at the Watering Hole. Clear golden colour, big white creamy head. Aroma is floral, perfumey. Very much so. Hint of graininess in the background. Taste is nice, quite fruity, and floral again. Tastes pink. Surely psychological. Further down is slightly wheaty. Strawberry and bit citrus, but mainly floral sweetness. Was nice enough, but I think a small glass is enough.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Lior D. Hazy yellow-golden. Vegetables, some spiciness, a bit floral, sweetish, a bit of candy, bitter finish, medium-bodied. Not so pleasant.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Huge sakura mochi and cinnamon nose with some sticky, bready malts and floral notes. Taste is sweet and strong sakura mochi essence but the beery, malty flavors are there. This is not alcopop, but on the other hand it’s not very good. Although halfway through I paired it with some macha ice cream and it was a nice combination. Why Sankt Gallen? Why? --- Beer merged from original tick of Sakura (さくら) on 19 Mar 2016 at 20:49 - Score: 6. Original review text: It's not terrible, but why? Sakura mochi and grass....

330 bottle. Pours relatively clear golden and has a nice foam top, staying longer than usual. Aroma is somewhat wheaty and soft - has also some fruitiness, bubble gum. Taste has really some sakura in it, or so it feels, actually nicer than I thought. Finish is quite bitter, just as if I had eaten some cherry blossoms. This beer is not bad, goes well with the experimental spirit that Sankt Gallen usually displays.

Judging from KyotoLefty’s rating they nailed what they were trying to do with this beer! I had to enjoy it on a picnic below a cherry blossom tree out of a bottle. It poured a dark yellow with a fluffy head of foam. The sakuramochi aroma was obvious if you’ve ever had that particular japanese sweet. The flavor started off spicy with sakura flavor passing into biscuit and ending in a quite bitter aftertaste. A really interesting seasonal beer, I’d prefer it to be a tad sweeter but otherwise pretty good.

Draught at Wachi. Has pickled cherry leaves as well as cherry blossoms in it. Clear, deep gold. Nice head Aroma of cherry leaf rice cakes (sakura mochi), just as they intended, with tangy citrus, biscuits. Flavor of wheat, nice citrus hops, sakura mochi. The cherry aspect is nice, but the rice cake aspect is a bit too much. Decent balance, though, and a clean finish with good hops. Quite nice for what is really a novelty beer.
