Tap at Craftheads. Golden amber colour, small white head. Aroma is bit stinky, sorachi and tropical fruity too. Taste is malty, quite fruity, nice weirdness. Pretty damn nice. Should have eaten something before I started drinking.

Draft at musica, Sapporo, Japan. Pours fairly hazy, orange gold, with persistent white foam. Aroma is citrus but sweet. Body is fairly dense with moderate carbonation. Taste is only partially set at first, then pretty bitter. Finish is fairly long and bitter.

Tap @ CBM Toranomon, New England vs West Coast event. Pours orange with some white foam, quite deep orange actually. Nose has some biscuity malt sweetness but also some prickly hops. Taste reveals quite sweet beer, malty character overall, some grassy bitterness trying to create some balance into the equation. Citric notes come out in the mid-taste but also in the finish. Nothing special but also not too bad.

Hazy amber color. Big big malty backbone with tons of citrus notes and notes of caramel. Bracing bitterness. The hops just linger and linger. Full body, full impact IPA. Reminds me on a PNW IPAs from the 1990s, but really well put together.

On tap at OBF. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A nice soft perfume and fruity hop nose. Toast, sweet malt base, mango, tropical fruit, low bitterness. Quite nice.

Re-rate: Tap at Beer Bar North Island. Still very solid, but flavors not as punchy as before. Still a very solid IPA though and one of Japan’s best. On tap at Beer Bar North Island. Served in a half pint shaker. Copper amber color with a modest light caramel-colored head. Grapefruit, orange, pine needles and bit of melon all on the nose. Really sticky, resiny profile that intensifies on the palate. Nice balance between malt and hops although the hops really shine through in this IPA. Nice bitter finish that stays with you. North Island’s IPA. 7% 630 yen. Tulip @ Yellow Ape Craft. A nice malty sweet fruity beer, definitely hop forward. Probably the closest I’ve seen to a Dogfish Head IPA made in Japan. North Island are one of the better breweries in Japan no doubt.

Draught at Snow Monkey Live. I’ve had this several times and it always seems different, but this time was the shit! Big, fragrant citrus hops with a wonderful malt backbone, round and sweet, but not too sweet because the hops were big. Good bitterness. A fine beer.
