Tap at the brewery. Burnt, bit bitter, smoke, light spice, soy sauce. Bit of roast. Nice, but not mind blowing. Cola. Brown sauce fruitiness. Not so thick, maybe just boozy.

Tap into a shaker showing pitch black with a finger of latte colored foam on top. The nose shows clean and simple coffee with moderate intensity. The stout is full bodied, highly carbonated, good strong coffee notes throughout with a high black coffee tartness throughout. A hop and black coffee bitterness dominates the back end with slight steel notes, adzuki bean sweetness on the finish. Overall, a solid stout but nothing to be running to back to.

On tap at Smokehouse. Black brown color with a tan head. Chocolate, roasted coffee, toasted malts on the nose. Thin body with fizzy carbonation. Fairly bitter on the palate with a bit of sweetness coming through. Only 7% but booziness becomes apparent as it comes to room temperature. Bitter, burned finish...leaning towards astringent.

From tap at Beerfes Tokyo. Dark, thick, slightly mahogany red. Only a bit of foam. Aroma has some dark roast, strong cocoa, taste tilting towards cocoa and especially towards chocolate. Dark black bitter chocolate. Wonderful as it is not so sweet. Bitter and dark chocolate. Body is surprisingly relatively light but it still has everything I want.

700 yen at Craft Beer Baby. A dark brown-black pour with a brown head. A savory roasty nose, a bit weak. Medium bodied but smooth. The taste is dark bitter malts, roasty and savory. Ok but not terribly imperial.

Draught at the brewery. Shiny black with a foamy tan head. Pretty. Creamy roast nose, chocolate and café au lait, slight fruit, including citrus. Tasty: dark chocolate, fruity tang, brown sugar, cream. Sweet but strong roasted coffee finish. Long bitter end. Light body. Good stuff.

Lots of roasted coffee notes with dark chocolate and some molasses in the nose. Lighter than expected body with the roastiness continuing. Moderately bitter finish. Almost a session Impy, if there was such thing. Enjoyable.
