This beer is a clear golden color with a medium thin white head with pretty good retention. Thin, spotty lacing. Light floral hops and a touch of wheat in the nose. Light-bodied with mildly bitter hops, citrus and grainy malt flavors. The finish is bitter and almost too astringent due to the lack of any real flavor behind it. This one isn’t really worth going back to.

12oz bottle-pours a white head with yellow color. Aroma is grain, some hops. Taste is a nice light/medium grain/malt. Mild hop finish. Good carbonation.

Golden Pilsener bought at Potsdam IGA, summr pack. Pale yellow colour with a thick foamy white head. Interesting peppery mint aroma, light corn and perfumey notes. In mouth, sweet crisp malt, with peppery hops, a bit grassy but pleasant. Not bad.

Bottle. Very light sweet malt aroma. Medium golden yellow color with small head. Sweet apple malt flavor with mild hops finish. A pleasant mild pilsener but not very strong - light.

Nice appearance, gold color, firm white head. Light malt aroma, very little hop aroma however. Goes down light and smooth, I suppose it has a little more to it than a BMC, but this doesn’t fall too far outside the boundaries either. Drinkable, but overall Saranac produces some brews that undoubtably lead many on to trying the world of craft beers in general so they deserve a lot of credit for that alone.

Ugh. Pilsener and Saranac together. I must say that I did not enter into this one with much hope.While in no way will I say that I liked this beer it did manage to exceed my expectations. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a light tan-yellow color with a small white head that disappeared almost instantly. The aroma is sour and lightly hoppy. The flavor is bitter with a light hop presence that redeems it somewhat. The texture is fairly light and crisp - as it should be for a pilsener. The brewer notes this as a wheat beer, but I can detect no wheat flavor of any sort.

I sampled the newer bottle labeled "Golden Pilsener". Still a bit confused by this, is it bottom-fermented pilsner or top-fermented American Wheat? I vote for the latter. Its a bright yellowish gold, full near creamy head. Herbal and spicy hop aroma. Light spicy hop flavor, little in the way of malt, light finish. Insufficient hops in the finish (for a pils, appropriate for a wheat), but nice hop flavorings and aromatics. Very light body. American Wheat Ale or Pilsener Lager?! I'm guessing a clean wheat ale with a little more than usual finishing hops. Decent enough, but labeling is as confusing as all get out.

Honey color with a white fizzy head. Was fairly plain. Had some wet malt notes, but very hard to pick out. Mainly a moderately acidic cereal hops flavor that comes and goes. Pretty unremarkable. Has a bit of spice in the finish. Has detectable wheat flavor, but just not that complex or interesting.
