Alchemy XIII is a Brown Ale - an often looked down on style, nevertheless an exciting and challenging one to brew as it focuses on maltiness rather that hop character. This beer is brewed using a generous amount of Melanoidin malt which provides a strong malty character. It is dark brown in colour, on the nose it’s fruity with malt and orangey hops, dry in mouth with a long malty finish and moderate bitterness.
Malts: Maris Otter Pale, Melanoidin malt, Crystal Rye malt, Black malt.

Hops: Hallertau Northern Brewer (bitterness), First Gold (aroma)

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours dark russet with a foamy, off-white head. Toast, bread, some dough in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, doughy, with notes of brown sugar, caramel, faint herbal and earthy bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Some faint cocoa, light toast and roast malts, hints of nuts, more doughy bread and toffee in the finish. Pretty nice.
