Appearance: Brown colour with a tan head.
Aroma: Malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.

Keg at Goodbeer faucets. Dark chocolate brown colour with beige head that soon fades. Aroma is slightly chocoatey and a bit of savoury (soy sauce). Roasty malt. Taste is very smooth, touch of vanilla creaminess (chocolate milk maybe) but not that sweet. Savoury tang to it. Initial bitterness but then very creamy finish. Think I am a sucker for Schwarzbier.

Izakaya Juraku, NYC bottle: pours near black with a beige head. Aroma is light chocolate, hints of molasses. Taste is sweet, light chocolate. Low bitterness, moderate sweetness.

Bottle from Tanakaya in 2014. Dark chocolate and roasted malt nose with some light prune notes as it warms. Cola-like mouthfeel with average carbonation and a touch dry. More cacao nibs as it warms with some hot cocoa. Finishes clean, dry and chocolately with just a hint of sweetness. Very well-done.

5.5% from Rakuten direct from the brewery, served in a glass mug. A coca-cola pour with a beige/brown head. Chocolate, cocoa, & sweet malt aroma. The flavor is coffee beans, cocoa & a bit of chocolate in the finish though the body is a touch thin. Overall, quite good.
