This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and pale beer aged on cherries. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour.

750ml bottle from West Coast LRS Kerrisdale. Pours a red-ish copper with a tan head. Aroma is a bit balsamic with cherry notes. Similar taste with moderate sweetness, low sourness, chocolate and cherry notes. Interesting, but the sugary sweetness in this beer makes it similar to the mass market products.

Fles gedeeld door Inoven. Blended in 2015, 2 jaar gerijpt. Het is een donker roodbruin bier met een roze schuim. Het heeft een typische kersen geur. De smaak is zoet, kersen met een wat zurige nasmaak.

330ml bottle. Pours deep red brown. Cherry, strawberry, sharp yoghurt acidity, some herbal character, some minerality. Nice carbonation. Good.

Toll!

Very straight and juicy. Almost a bit kitschy. But what the hell, it’s actually good, although it reminded me of cherry cola at times.

Pours a dark brown that actually reveals itself as dark red as the beer thins. Low off-white head, decent retention and nice lacing. Aroma is cherries drowned in a soft sugary/caramel feel, with vinegar and tart hints. Taste is mainly sweet and slighty sour. Caramel and slight chocolate malts, slight sugary sweetness, fresh cherries feel and mild vinegarish tartness. Light to medium bodied with delicate carbonation, very gentle and silky mouthfeel, but still capable of being pleasantly creamy if held in the mouth for a few seconds. It’s not super complex but it’s very very fine and well made, with a vivid, natural cherries feel, and even quite refreshing.

From old tasting notes. Dark reddish brown color, nearly opaque. Creamy brownish, tan head. Fruity sour cherry aroma. Tangy, sour cherry flavor upfront that fades to a sour malt midtaste, then a tart, dry finish. Aftertaste is long and flavorful. Noticeable strong alcohol flavor. Very flavorful. Well made and distinctive. Warm, soothing and delicious.
