Keyaki. Oh La Holy crap. Aroma is boozy. Taste is alright, fruity, but booze is present. Aroma is barley wine. Not sure it's a complete success but it was fun.

Bottle as "Cuvee Duke Barrel Aged Barleywine". Pours dirty orange, relatively clear pour actually. No foam to speak about. Apple juice syrup nose, sweet and boozy. Clear alcohol bite in the nose. Sugary apple candies. Tastes like watered down calvados, boozy, apples and some light bitterness in the finish. Barrel is there, boozy but well, very unusual and I am not sure I really like it. Slick mouthfeel.

hazy golden color. Very sweet with tons of oak, green raisin in the nose. Slight sweet mouth, with oak and apples, stewed fruit, slight sour, the barrel aging has thinned things out. For 13% this is very interesting. White wine and oak in the finish. Good stuff.

Keyaki fall 2016. Tons of pear and apple on the nose with booze. The pear really stands out as it warms. Boozy on the palate but somehow very light. Almost wine-like in body and character. Boozy for sure, but a rollercoaster ride. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cuve Duke on 18 Sep 2016 at 13:47 - Score: 7
