The Chimay Red is the oldest of the Chimays. Its coppery color and sweet, fruity taste make it a particularly tasty dark ale.

0,33l bottle at home bought from Finest Belgian Beers. BB 05/2023. brown hazy color, medium big off-white head. smells belgian yeasty, ripe fruits, marzipan, light molasses, light candy sugar, some dried fruits. nice to very nice smell. full body, bit bubbly / soapy carbonation. tastes earthy, peppery, spices, soapy, dried fruits, marzipan, lightly nutty, caramel. finishes soapy and light to medium sweet with notes of dried fruits, caramel and nutty notes. good one, bit heavy and bit sweet, but overall good complexity.

Bottle from my local off licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a hazy chestnut/red colour with a medium sized fluffy off white head. High carbonation in the glass. Nice lacing. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, bread and sugar. Taste is the same again, fairly sweet with added notes of bubblegum and faint overripe banana. Medium bodied, fairly smooth with a long lingering sweet fruity aftertaste. Maybe a little too sweet for my liking but still a very good beer.

Barwa miedziana, klarowne, piana jasnobeżowa, dość obfita, dość trwała. W aromacie słodowe, ziemiste, nieco estrów i rodzynek. W smaku słodowe, ziemiste, nieco karmelu, rodzynek, ciemnego pieczywa. Goryczka niska, wysycenie niskie do średniego, ciała nieco brakuje. Nieco zbyt nijakie.
