Tap at Kaapse festival. Very dark reddish brown with light beige head. Fruity hops with quite some resin. Fruits are orange, red apple, some grapefruit. Light roasted grains with a touch of dark chocolate. Light yeast. Medium to light sweet with the same bitterness. Ok

One of the interesting brews from this new craft beer project, a dark IPA with, it has to be said, exemplary back label in mentioning EBC, IBU, hop varieties used and so on. The ABV unambiguously refers to the number of the Beast. Very dark ruby colour, almost black but still translucent, slightly hazy, under a lacing, light beige, moussy head of medium thickness. Attractively perfumed bouquet of milk chocolate, orange liqueur, cinnamon, gingerbread, grapefruit peel, nutmeg, walnuts, port wine, (quite strong) iron, some coffee grounds, vanilla beans, brown bread, beef jerky and lilies. Fruity onset, raisins, pear, brambleberries, subduedly sweet with a lemony sourishness (feeling ’natural’, not infected), fairly sharp carbonation, smooth dark maltiness, nutty and bitterly chocolatey, spicy accents playing along, somewhat powdery mouthfeel, medium bodied, metallic as well but fortunately not too disturbing; finishes in an elegant, quenching bitterness, both roasted, ’cold black coffee’-like bitterness and citrussy and peppery hop bitterness, even a bit quinine-like in the end, somewhat resinous, supported by a hint of warming alcohol, but not disturbingly so. Interesting, somewhat unusual but tasty example of the style, which is still very rare in Belgium. Though quite iron-like and even metallic, this aspect is covered in sufficient complexity not to bother me so in the end, I truly enjoyed this.

Bottle - dark brown to black pour with beige head. Aroma and taste is roasted malty, caramel, some piney and tropical hoppy fruity notes, nice one.

33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is mild fruity. Toasted malty and caramelish to breadish. Bitter, fruity and smooth. Medium dry, crisp and lingering slight fruity into the finish.

Dark brown color, near black, with generous compact head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, and Belgian yeast. Good body strength; the flavor is mostly drip coffee, it’s dry, a bit ashy, but it also has a trace of Belgian yeast.

Draught @ [ Borefts After Festival 2014 ] @ Kaapse Brouwers, Veerlaan 19-D, Rotterdam, Netherlands 3072 AN. [ As Brussels Beer Project Dark Sister ].Clear medium to dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, moderate hoppy, grass, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to light light heavy bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, hoppy, brett notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft - lively. [20140928]

330ml bottle from drinkmonger. Pours dark brown, massively over-carbonated 4 inch head, from pouring half the bottle out! When it settles, yeasty and roasted aromas are there, light pine. Taste has some chocolate, and light sherbet. Not great.
