The special raspberry version of Kaggen Stormaktsporter - and probably the closest I'll ever get to that legendary Swedish craft beer - released in 2015 for Akkurat's twentieth anniversary. Three year old bottle - a beautiful one with deep red print, I hasten to add - enjoyed at Akkurat in Stockholm; one I was very curious about. Creamy, mocha coloured, bit irregular head slowly opening in the middle but remaining largely stable, on a pitch black beer. Stunningly rich and absolutely beguiling bouquet: hot chocolate sauce with red raspberries and sweet ripe blackberries drenched in it, bourbon, molasses, candied dates, Liège pear syrup, fig compote, brown rum, Wiener Sachertorte, cashew nuts, fresh thyme, strong vanilla-scenting oak, mocha ice cream, tawny port, strawberry chocolates, 'praliné', Worcestershire sauce, bayleaf, cinnamon rolls, treacle. Intense, very 'concentrated' candied sweet onset, candied dates, elderberry syrup, with a very lively raspberry juice element that remains well-integrated in the beer's basic profile, yet at the same time adds a beautiful bright colouring to it; softish carbonation, very thick, viscous, greasy mouthfeel gliding heavily over the tongue, leaving behind a thick trail of condensed chestnutty, molasses-like and chocolatey malt richness. Very, very thick and deep flavour, leading to an even deeper finish with soft roasty aspects, ongoing massive chocolateyness, a lively retronasal upsurge of vanilla-scenting oak wood and firmly, yet charmingly and nowhere astringently warmed up by a soothing glow of kahlua-, bourbon- and chocolate liqueur-like alcohol, tying everything together. My expectations for this Stormaktsporter edition were high enough, but the beer itself managed to even exceed them; this is easily among the most beautiful stout / porter beers I ever had. Adding raspberry (of fruit in general) to this type of 'black' beers rarely works out very well for me, even if interesting flavour combinations are usually the result, but here it was a stroke of genius, effectively creating a liquid 'praline' made of the thickest, darkest, bittersweetest chocolate with a lovely bright reddish pink raspberry filling at its core. One of the most intelligent, opulent and condensed beers I ever had in the stout / porter family, fully justifying its reputation. What a shame these Stormaktsporters are so limited in production, more of this and other varieties should be sent out to the world!

Bottle, thanks to Ben!!! Pours clear black, small brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, good lacing. Aroma is licorice, molasses, cocoa, port. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body. Not really sure why this is a top 50 beer honestly.

15K rating. Bottle at Muckfest. Pours black with medium tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong roast, bourbon, vanilla, molasses, dark fruit. Thick body, roast, fudge, light smoke, boozy but balanced, really enjoyed this.

250 ml bottle, bottled Dec. 2015, from a trade with GTH, many thanks for this gem!
Black body, with a small, dense, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of dried fruits, cocoa, toffee, berries, coffee, honey, some wood, some liquorice.
Tastes similar, with the berries coming through a bit more and some booze.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium sweet, medium roasty, a bit dry, a bit alcoholic, with cocoa, wood, some coffee, some liquorice, some berries.
Tasty. Very smooth, with the typical notes of the style, which are very well balanced, supported by the subtly integrated berries, coming more through in the taste and especially as the beer warms up. Overall this reminds me more of an Imperial Porter (well the name says it...) and it’s not among my favourite beers, but still a lovely, smooth sipper, with a lot of subtle quality and a glad opportunity to try this.

0,25l bottle at home shared by Saeglopur, big thanks for this one. Some swedish stufff written on this one. I think it says brewed 10/2014. Bottled 12/2015. black color, small coffee colored head. smells earthy, licorice, bit joghurty, some flowery notes, berries. nice smell overall. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, peppery, berry notes, lightly boozy, bit cardboardish, light juniper, hints of joghurt. finishes dryish with notes of earth, berry notes and light cardboard. hmm, not bad but expected a bit more. Maybe a tad overrated, not a big fan on the balance. a bit harsh even. More like a traditional ale than an imp stout. Overall still rather good though.
