We pronounce it “sta-leep-ah”; you pronounce it how you like. STLIPA, which is the acronym for St. Louis India Pale Ale, is actually a DIPA (Double or Imperial IPA, double the stats of a traditional IPA). It showcases prominent grapefruit, pine, and floral hop aroma and a sufficient malt backbone to balance the hop bitterness. We hope it’s one you'll include in your set of favorite DIPA’s from one of the best beer cities in the world St. Louis.

Bottle: Hazy, deep golden, bigger rocky, lacy and slowly collapsing off-white head; mild to moderate resiny-flowery nose, traces of yeast and grains plus faint illusions of wood and vanilla; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, creamy MF; well balanced and lingering bitter-sweet finish with notes of flowery hops, cough syrup and caramel; hoppy -as expected- aftertaste. Yes, they can…

50cl bottle, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours with a clear copper body that supports a full light tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up mango and pineapple as well as mild spicy earthy hops and some citrus. The taste starts smooth with clementine and tangelo citrus and mango to pineapple hop flavor rolling into more and more hop bitterness. It then slides into a modestly bitter and dry finish. Tasty IPA.

16.9 oz bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Martin City, Missouri. The label states that the bottled date is printed on the neck of the bottle, though I was unable to see a date. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a well formed two inch off white head. The aroma is tropical fruit citrus, mango, pineapple, and some bready malt. Fresh and clean nose. The taste is the tropical citrus fruits up front, bright and clean, layered nicely on top of the clean cracker bread malt backbone. The flavors play together nicely. The palate is medium bodied, natural carbonation and a clean finish. The 8.1% is masked beautifully in this beer - it avoids the lingering sweet trap that so many DIPAs fall into. Very tasty.

Big thanks to Gerhard for providing the bottle for our tasting. Huge foamy white head to an unclear amber coloured body. Spotty lacing. Aroma of bitter fruitiness, hints of lemon and peach. Malt-fruity flavours, bread, earth, nuts and citrus. Smooth on the swallow. Mostly hidden alcohol. Well bodied (Grand tasting at the balcony, Fässla, Bamberg 12.10.2014).

bottle from bierpost. Golden colour with a dense white head and a lovely hoppy aroma. Full-bodied, intensive malt flavours with a decent sweetness supporting the aromatic hops and the pleasant bitterness. Bitter-sweet, packed with fruity hops. Delicious.

(bottle) Hazy, murky golden colour with a loose medium-sized and off-white foamy head. Rather discreet aroma: yeasty, mildly cara-malty with fruity, slightly flowery and sweaty hops. Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Slightly bready malt character with a whiff of caramel, backed by citric and mildly piney hops; dry-ish and moderately malty finish with resiny and mildly fruity hops. 04.X.14

500ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Herbal hoppy aroma, hints of grapefruit, a touch of wet hay. Taste is bitter hoppy, grassy, spicy hints of hay, some citrusy fruitiness, hints of glue; well hidden alcohol, relatively light body, cumulative, slightly biting hop bitterness.
