(swing top bottle, 75cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a thick and tanned foamy head. Toasty malty aroma with profound notes of caramel, Bavarian Blockmalz bonbons and walnuts, lao hints of vanilla. Sweet and delicately bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft and matured carbonation. Toasty malty taste with caramel, chocolate and nutty notes, as well as a delicate but rounded hoppy touch in the background; sweet and slightly bitter lasting finish with present notes of chocolate in the aftertaste. A very rounded Doppelbock. 09.X.13

Bottle from Maruhn, Darmstad
Dark amber color, hazy, with medium sized compact head. The caramel aroma is more pronounced than the caramel flavor; the body is weaker than desired; the residual sweetness is moderate, and the bitterness too low; an impression of nuts in the final.
Simple.

Bügelverschlußflasche (750ml): Almost clear, deep amber coloured, big and very slowly collapsing off-white head, (wal-)nutty and(walnut-)oily nose with caramel and toffee; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; lingering and well balanced sweet-bitter finish with caramelly and also a bit chocolatey notes. A fine and well balanced Doppelbock...

750ml bottle. Clear ruby red colour with huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Grainy, minimally spicy, caramel malty aroma, some hay, a touch of old nougat. Taste is moderately sweet caramel malty, cautious hints of red fruit, a fresh splash fruit acid, a touch of nougat, cautious dry overtones of fruit parings. Maybe a little too sweet.
