2009 bottle. Aroma of malt, caramel, ripe fruits, peach, apricot, resin, aged hops. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate bitter finish. After 6 years this Double IPA has turned into a nice Barley Wine indeed.

Corked bottle 89 of 384. 10,8%, 92,6 EBU. Dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Malt, hopoil and grapefruit in the strong aroma. Initial malty sweetness attacted and overpowered by an intense dry bitterness with loads of fruit. Grapefruit, pineapple, red berries. lemon cake. Piney, intensely hopbitter aftertaste. A touch of alcohol, but well balanced. Can compete with the very best of American DIPAs Re-rate, tasted in feb 09. This beer matures very well. Re-rate Bottle nr 5, tasted in May 2018 murky broen color. Vinous, butter, green tea, remainiing hops. Liquorish aroma. Malty sweet, still Quite Hoppy. Has thinned. Dried fruit. Amazing how this DIPA avant la lettre has developed!

At a tasting, many thanks, smallish bubbly head, oxidized brown color with reddish hues, aroma of orange marmalade and oxidized notes, sweet jammyflavor with dark bread citrus and a cakey candy maltiness, medium mellow bitterness, quite sweet but not cloying. Not what it was supposed to be be still nice and enjoyable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Vova. Bottled 2009. Hazy deep amber. Rich aroma of malt, caramel, cookies, some dark fruits, some stale hops. Sweet flavor with malt, caramel, cookies, and a mildly bitterish finish. Rounded mouthfeel. Very nice. Aged well.

Bottle, over 5 years old. Dark color for an IIPA. Aroma is really malty. Tastes like a malt soup, with still some bitter hops and sweet caramel. The aging turned it into a barley wine. Good, but not spectacular.

Old notes. From bottle @ Bierkoning’s Molen tasting in 2008/2009, with Menno pouring himself. Dark amber/brown color. Aroma’s of sweet fruits, raisins, but also resin, pine, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, fruity, moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Long firm bitter finish. Really nice!

Road soda courtesy of Kermis. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is sweet caramel burnt toffee. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a rich woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.
