Das Kärrners Schwarze ist ein vollmundiges, kräftiges, malzaromatisches und tief kastanienbraunes Exportbier. Es ist geprägt durch sein intensives Malzaroma, ergänzt durch intensive Karamell-, Kakao- und Kaffeenoten, und hebt sich damit deutlich von der breiten Masse der Brauerei-Biere ab. Dabei zeigt es elegante, harmonische Bitterstoffe, die zum intensiven Genießen anregen.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Meike - thanks!]. Opalescent, mahogany colour with ruby shimmer and average, firm, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark sulphureous head. Slightly roasty, minimally grainy, malty aroma, a touch of malt lozenge, caramel. Taste is slightly roasty, dark malty and minimally sugary, caramel malty, minimally grassy hoppy, hints of liquorice, some roasty malty and minimally hoppy bitterness, a weak touch of iron, diluted caramel.
Slightly oily, watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Well crafted (concerning appearance and texture), a tad disharmonious, somehow not "black" enough - nevertheless quite OK.

Dunkler Bernstein. Sehr cremiger Schaum. Geschmacklich hat man dunkles Karamalz, Getreide, etwas Schwarzbrot, etwas Spekulatius, ein Hauch Cola. Alles nicht sehr intensiv, alles eher auf der sehr süffigen Seite. Macht aber trotzdem Spaß.

Thanks to kevnic2008 for that one. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Starts mild, malty, modest moldy-sourish. Light roasty. Finish boring malty. Okay, but nothing special.

Many thanks to McTapps for this sample! Malty-sweetish beginning. Fresh but not too deep, malty-sweetish with only a hint of roast. Way too sweet for a Schwarzbier. Sweetish-malty ending with only hints of dark roasted malt.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein schwarzes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, erdig, leicht würzig. Geschmack röstmalzig, leichte Kaffe Aromen, erdig, trocken malzig, leicht süß.

Draught at the brauhaus
Cloudy brown color; creamy head. Mild aroma of caramel, light hop too. Correct body strength, with some body roundness; the malts are always a bit sweet at this brewery, but this beer has a mild flavor of roasted malts too; the hopping is a bit hidden, but of good quality. It has a good bitterness level, and because of the roasted malts the final gets a bit drier than their other beers. Well balanced.
