Clear reddish brown color with nice head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. As well as taste.

Trübes dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner beiger Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, Karamell. Geschmack wässrig, leicht röstmalzig, Karamell, leider zu schwach.

Bottle 0.5l at Helsinki. Thanks to Rosenbergh. BBE 8/5/2014. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, hints of coffee and roasted malts. Very thin.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 8/5/2014, courtesy of rosenbergh, 20140315) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had metallicness and sweetness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Afteraste was sweet and mildly bitter. A watery and bad brown ale.

Bottle from rosenbergh, many thanks, Jan. Hazy dark brown color with medium light beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, sugar red fruits. taste, dark malt, caramel, nuts, coffee, some fruitiness.

Draught @ Villi Wäinö
Aroma has strawberries, messy yeasty notes and slight sourness. Also hints of hay. Flavour fhas syrupy tones, some strawberries and, hay and some malt. Empty feeling in the finish at first. Feels like ’kotikalja’, not as sweet as commercial kotikaljas though. A brown ale? My guess would have been dunkel or even vienna.

This gets a lot better when it warms up; some malty and chocolate tones do appear. 2.6 for as cold as served, 3.1 for warmer.
