Black Magic Woman is a Stout.
Black Magic Woman is our interpretation of a unique stout with peat-smoked malt. This is a real “man’s beer”, with a lot of everything. It is brewed with roasted barley malts, birch-smoked malt, peat-smoked malt, caramel malts and ale malt. It is well-hopped in order to balance the hearty malt profile. Black Magic Woman is an excellent accompaniment to desserts, dark chocolate, strong cheeses. It is also allowed to drink it on its own, while relaxing in a good armchair watching a football match.

No head, pitch-black beer. Very smokey nose with wafts of cigar, peat, and herbs. Tar & phenols take over. Taste is even more tar & phenolic, like concentrated Lapsan Souchong, cold. Faint burnt barley sourness in the background, off-setting the roaste/sweet main flavour. I wonder if smoked malts were really used. Medium to well-bodied, light feel for its ABV, alcohol pretty hidden. Slick, but not viscous. Another DIS. Not the best, certainly not the worst. Many thanks, Jan & Charlotte!

The Santana beer thanks to bu11zeye. Best before 28/05/2019. Pours with a deep brown body and a small off-white. Aroma of brown sugar, smoke and alcohol. Taste is smokey and chocolatey. Light bubbles.

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Spicy alcoholic rum and roasty chocolate aroma with tar notes. Dry-sweetish earthy alcoholic roasty taste, again with tar notes. Mid-bodied. Dry ashy spicy chocolatey aftertaste with alcohol notes. A bit too much alcohol and ash; would probably benefit from aging. (0.5l bottle, Ølbutikken, Copenhagen.)

Draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen
Black color; creamy head. Ordinary aroma of roasted malt and ashes. It has a quite good flavor, because the roasted malt is not too strong and there is the sweetness that I like; for me it’s well balanced; there is also chocolate flavor and caramel, and light alcohol feeling in the end.

At the Ølfestival, Esbjerg, Denmark 23-10-09. Soft sweet bitter liquorice nose with dark sugars and toffee. Big mouthfeel with plenty of liquorice and a touch of hedgerow fruit but all of this is laden down by a big bed of coffee and alcohol. The tongue is slightly numbed. Strength is apparent but smooth and the roastiness carries well. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Draught at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Göteborg. On Ocotber 19, 2009 - during the porter week.Black color, brown head. Sweet, caramel, slaty, rubber, smoke, fruity scent. Sweet, dry, an abundance of charcoal and wood taste. Dry wood aftertaste. A bit acidic aftertaste as well. Moussy and smooth mouthfeel. Medium bitterness that seems bigger than it really is due to the dry wood feeling and some extensive dark malts used.
