Black Magic Woman is a Stout.
Black Magic Woman is our interpretation of a unique stout with peat-smoked malt. This is a real “man’s beer”, with a lot of everything. It is brewed with roasted barley malts, birch-smoked malt, peat-smoked malt, caramel malts and ale malt. It is well-hopped in order to balance the hearty malt profile. Black Magic Woman is an excellent accompaniment to desserts, dark chocolate, strong cheeses. It is also allowed to drink it on its own, while relaxing in a good armchair watching a football match.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt and alcohol, the latter leaving a burn in the throat, but also notes of chocolate and a bit of soy sauce and wood, leading to a dry and quite roasted finish

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. It serves a black body under a tan head. A bit bigger and firmer head, and it would be a certain five on appearance, now I’m in doubt. Roasted and burnt malts on the nose, almost charcoal-like, with coffee, mocha and some sweetness. Bonfire-burnt flavor with charcoal, sweetness, coffee and roasted bitterness. Just lovely to taste how the dry, charcoal-like malts are blended with sugary sweetness. Warming, full-bodied and dry mouthfeel. Lasting finish with all the good from the initial flavor, combined with a clever use of hops for fruityness and bitterness. Really pleasant. Rating: 8-4-9-4-17-4.2. 090515
Bottle. A black one, topped by a dense, brown head. Malty nose with licorice, roasted malts, a fruity hint and some notes of chicken farm. Roasted and boozy flavor with dried fruits and coffee. Full-bodied and both dry and sweet at the same time. Hmm, my two ratings differ a lot now, I guess it’s time for yet another rerate. 110204

A 09 release from the brewery, sampled on tap at the Copenhagen Beer Festival. Pitch black with a tiny, beige head. Aroma of coffee and malty sweetness. Nice blend of dark malts. Coffee, dark chocolate, caramel and hints of blood oranges added by discreet roastiness. Dry bittersweet finish. Full bodied and lovely to drink. Nearly as good as the Fleetwood Mac’s version (16.05.2009).
