Black Magic Woman is a Stout.
Black Magic Woman is our interpretation of a unique stout with peat-smoked malt. This is a real “man’s beer”, with a lot of everything. It is brewed with roasted barley malts, birch-smoked malt, peat-smoked malt, caramel malts and ale malt. It is well-hopped in order to balance the hearty malt profile. Black Magic Woman is an excellent accompaniment to desserts, dark chocolate, strong cheeses. It is also allowed to drink it on its own, while relaxing in a good armchair watching a football match.

On tap at Café Langebro, Copenhagen. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, coffee a little smoke and some chocolate. Coffee-chocolate burst in the flavour, some licorice in there too. Dry finish. Tasty stuff.

Tap@Cafe Langebro, CPH - pours black with a firm persistent tan head. Big roasted malty aroma and taste, some chocolate, notes of peat, smoky burnt malts, some dark dried fruits, there is some hoppy nuances in this as well on the palate, pretty complex overall, very satisfying and enjoyable. Tasty stuff!

Danish imperial brewed with peated malt and, I suppose, named after the Santana song... Deeply beige, creamy head, colour totally black. Powerful aroma of ashes, charcoal, black coffee, cacao powder, cassis, figues; dried fruit initiates the taste but doesn’t last long against a very powerul roasted bitterness, peated malt and smokiness, almost feels like ingesting the content of a used ashtray, especially in the tail. A bit too ashy to my taste, but very characterful and powerful for sure.

Tap @ Ölhus Stockholm. Black, one finger, thick brown head. Roasted, coffee, chocolaty, oat aroma. That is some inviting stuff. Flavor has coffee, roastedness, licorice, dark bready, malaxlimpa like stuffy, sweet. Full bodied. Awesome IS. So good to find this on draft in Helsinki. Lingering smoky finish

Pours thick black with a dense, light brown head. Aroma of peat, dark choc and roasted malt. Thick mouthfeel, taste is more roasted malt and chocolate well balanced by stingy bitterness. Semi sticky finish.

Single from the LCBO with a best before date 30 08 2023. Pours real dark brown colour with a big mocha-brown head, great retention and lots of sticky foam lace. Mild roasted malt aromas at first, but turns into something bad at one point. Something like wet socks and maybe some metal. Thankfully, this goes away and some nice butterscotch notes and coffee blend in with the burnt malt. Oily and slick mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Lots going on in the flavours with some nice bitterness from the grassy hops, covering the roasted malts. Hints of licorice, chocolate, coffee and light alcohol. No burning though. Too bad, not getting the peaty malts talked about in the description.

Strong imperial stout with the familiar taste of roasted coffee and cacao. I liked it.
