Vielen Dank an kevnic2008!

2011-03-25, growler bottle kindly filled by the brauhaus in Durlach, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Hazy deep amber color, with red shades; the head is quite small. The aroma is very mild, some dusty caramel. Medium body strength; caramel flavor, moderate residual sweetness, moderate roasted malts; correct to strong bitterness. Indeed, much more boring than it was fresh from the tap.

2011-03-22, draught at Durlach location, 8-5-7-3-14=37
Red-amber color, hazy; medium sized creamy head. Aroma of caramel and smoke, roasted nuts; very nice. The body is lean, it doesn’t show the 18.5% Stw; there is a strong flavor of dark caramel and some roasted malt, quite dry mouthfeel (too dry for a Doppelbock), and too much carbonation; the bitterness is strong (as usual from Vogel), with more roasted malt character in the end. Good, but it doesn’t have the charme of their hoppy Pils, nor of bolder and sweeter Doppelbock.

Bottled. N unclear deep red beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, straw, alcohol and and bread, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle 100 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with an off-white head. Some roast and a fresh flowery note. Solid body, quite some roast, nuts and a candy-like sweetness quickly eroded by a massive bitterness. A little rough. 250311
