Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor profile. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice contributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Strong, firm, alcoholic, orange, smooth, marmalade, it’s a bit less complex then a granular dipa, but this is still nice. Clean/crispy nice

Thanks Gregg for sharing the bottle (I guess?) Poured into a taster showing pale gold with half a finger of sparse white foam. The nose shows clean dry notes of pine resin. The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Extremely bitter. Mild pine resin notes if you really search but the rice just lends itself too cleanly and the bitterness just overtakes the rest. Horrific.

Seavans tasting, thanks Gregg! Lightly creamy yellow pour with some white bubbles on the top. Nose is full of Citra, citrus and a bit of cat pee. Lightly sweet and appears appetising. Taste is hoppy, resiny bitter hops, grassy and satisfying your hop tooth. Body is super light but stands up to the bitterness well, only a bit harsh. Drinks easy but high 9.5 abv that it actually has makes this beer quite dangerous. Solid and satisfying IPA.

16 ounce prowler into tulip glass, filled on 11/4/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear pale golden yellow color with a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Nice appearance, despite lack of carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, white bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Mild carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, grainy, sticky, and fairly resinous/rind balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, a mildly increasing warmth of 9.5% after the finish. Overall this is an amazing DIPA! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV. Even with the lack of carbonation in this prowler, this was still a winner. Great mix of dank and vibrant hop complexity; with a really lightweight malt body for the ABV from the rice as expected. Just enough there to balance the fairly aggressive bitterness. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a mostly clear gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Floral notes with citrus and rice on the nose. Alcohol hidden immaculately. Crisp and clean, west coast, light body. Citrus, rice & honey. Seriously smooth, definitely could be dangerous if not careful. --- Beer merged from original tick of DRIPA on 15 Sep 2017 at 17:17 - Score: 8. Hmmmm. Kinda eager to see where this beer goes; first sip is surprisingly sweet and creamy, an unexpected booziness providing a sake-ish warmth. (Hey, we are talking fermented rice here, right?) Orange and apricot marmalade on a buttered biscuit, or maybe a citrus-caramel candy DIPA? Pine and glazed sugar as well...lots of stuff going on here, almost all of it good. Could use a bit more bitterness on the finish, but damned if my pint hasn’t already vanished. Probably wouldn’t name this an IPA during a blind taste test--sake-aged citrus strong ale, maybe?--but I do like it very much.

Draught @ St.Gambrinus Beer Shoppe. Faintly cloudy pinkish yellow broth-like color with whitish foamy head, fresh citrus aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter orange peel taste with a perfume like flavor, thin body, medium bitter flavorful finish. There is a certain sake-like quality to the taste, very flavorful.
