Double Rice India Pale Ale. This gold colored West Coast style Double India Pale Ale has an intense hop nose, with aromas mainly of citrus. The high hop character dominates this IPA’s flavor profile. Made with American long grain rice, it is quite difficult to make but the rice contributes to this beer’s crisp aftertaste.

Blind Tiger, NY 12oz tap ($7.50): Pours an amber with a thick head. Aroma is explosive array of fruity hops, basically a lot of grapefruit, but way better than the actual fruit. Taste is as expected, also excellent. Very citrusy. Mild aftertaste. Soft body. I don’t really know how the rice contributed, but whatever it did, it must have been good, since this beer was also quite good.

Draft in snifter. Intense aroma blasts fruit, pine, and hops. Smooth on the palate; balance of hops, fruit, pine. I only had 10 ounces, but that was enough. I think I wouldn’t appreciate it as much if I were drinking more. Very, very, very good!

Tap at the Cask, Pimlico - 22/06/12. Pours a golden/copper colour with thin white head. Nose is citrus hop, mango, sweet tropical fruits and a piney background. Tastes as nose, again very hoppy and fruity, the sweeter side of tropical fruits. Medium body and carbonation, smooth drinking, well balanced and the alcohol is well disguised for nearly 10% ABV.

Honey golden color, good cloudy, off-white head. Pineapple, resiny, piney aroma. Medium-bodied. Soft flavor (thanks for rice?), a bit sweet, fruity. Finish is grapefruity. Nice uncommon DIPA which is very drinkable without heavy sweetness of normal American dipas.
