Bottle from Craft Beer Base. It poured an inky black with a brownish-white head. A mild chocolate aroma which is followed by a crisp tasting beer with rich caramel notes. It was very flavorful for such a low ABV, very well balanced & easy to drink. A satisfying brew!

Nice rich deep brown coloured body with a nice, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk, tons of caramel and other nice sugars and quite a bit of vanilla and oak, tucked in with a lot of oatmeal - very nice smells. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavour with a lot of roasted oatmeal, some anise and other light spices, a ton of milk flavours and a good sweetness to finish from caramel. Aftertaste shows some nice sugars, a lot of caramel and even more roasted malt with a lot of vanilla and a bit of oak - nice robust flavours. Overall, a very nice beer showing some good characteristics throughout with the majority focused on sugars and a nice malty flavour. I sampled this stubby 12 ounce bottle purchased from Village Market in San Francisco, California (Ferry Building) on 15-June-2012 for US$1.84 sampled at home in Washington on 02-November-2012.

Cask at Max’s Taphouse, Baltimore - 22/05/12. Very dark brown in colour verging on black with a medium beige head. Heaps of chocolate on the nose, roasted malt a little coffee. Taste as nose - hints of vanilla also/ Medium bodied, lowish carbonation, dry roasty finish.

Aroma is roasted with coffee and chocolate, but feels a bit watery. Also hints of milk-like sourness. Flavour is rather nice with roastiness, chocolate and coffee. Dry finish. Very good for this abv.

Tap. Pours clear deep reddish brown with a small creamy tan head that laces well. Slightly sweet aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and a little whiskey. Taste is of coffee, roasted malts with a lightly bitter finish. Creamy and rich in the mouth. Quite tasty.

Big Top, Rosslyn variety 24 pack: Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma is pretzel, roasted malts, chocolate, and dough. Taste is kind of bitter. Dark chocolate flavours manifest themselves powerfully. Really nice mouthfeel: velvet is a good way to describe it. Not really sweet. Well-balanced drinkable and full of flavour.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is nice and sweet: toasted marshmallows and chocolate. Pours opaque black with a medium collapsing tan head. Taste is sugary sweet (not cloying) and finishes bitter. Carbonation is average and the mouthfeel is, well, velvety. Delicious.

On draught at a beer dinner at Monk’s Kettle. Massive roast aroma dominates. Nice viscous mouthfeel. The roast follows through on the flavor and chocolate also develops with solid bittering for an American stout.

Enjoyed on tap as part of the Darkside flight at Bruery Provisions in Orange, CA. Appearance a dark murky brown with almost no head. Aroma, oh man, oatmeal, espresso, cocoa, bourbon, chocolate...this should be a cologne.
Taste is f’ing incredible. God dammit, when I first sipped this I almost pounded my fist on the table since it tasted so good. There’s hazelnut, a bit of hops, and the aforementioned ingredients. Well balanced, decadent, I want more. Nothing else to say about this, truly awesome.
