Das Schongauer Dunkel wird nach einem alten Schongauer Traditionsrezept gebraut. Daher kommt auch die auffallende, sehr dunkle Farbe. Diese können wir durch besondere Röstmalze und die Verwendung verschiedener Spezialmalze gewinnen. Außerdem ist das Schongauer Dunkel für seine ausgesprochen malzige und süffige Art bekannt. Untypisch und damit besonders ist das obergärige Gärverfahren dieses Bieres.

Bottle picked up from Getränke Winkler, Petting and consumed at home Wednesday 27th July 2022 listening to Marc Riley on 6 Music, we had Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni and Garlic Bread, interestingly the bread was Hefe Weisse bread was homemade and from Schonhamer Brauerei. Pours chestnut, slim off white head, good clarity. Nutty and caramel maltiness come through, nice moutheel, a little bit of bitterness, solid Dunkel, seems to hit all the right notes, I like this.

Clear brown. Aroma is caramel some nuts and chestnut. Taste is sweet caramel with bitter nutpeel and some umami. Quite sour carbonation. Ok.

On tap at the brewpub. Sehr dunkel orange braunes Bier mit einer ordentlichen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, schokoladig, leicht säuerlich fruchtig. Geschmack leicht säuerlich, schokoladig, süß Röstmalzig.
